Bluebirds Sunk by River Monsters
|
The Twin Cities River Monsters picked up a win at Land O' Lakes Ballpark, knocking off the Nashville Bluebirds, 5-2. On the mound for Twin Cities was right-hander Erik Brooks. He played a key role in the triumph. Brooks, the winner, moves to 8-6. He threw 6.1 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 2 walks. Twin Cities now has a record of 76-41 with the win.
The River Monsters got a big at-bat from catcher Mathew Malone. For the game, Malone was 1-5 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 21st home run of the season gave Twin Cities a 2-0 lead.
"We're one win closer to our goal," Brooks said in postgame remarks.
