With 3-1 Win, Blazers Go to 68-51
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Montreal Blazers and the Charm City Jimmies, 30-year old right-handed pitcher Samuel Nebraska proved to be the difference. The Montreal right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-1 Blazers win. In 6.2 innings, Nebraska surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Augusto Ayala earned his 33rd save, after closing out the game.
Cisco Cintrón had a big run-scoring triple for the Blazers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Montreal leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a cutter from 33-year old left-handed pitcher Allen Davidson and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Blazers ahead, 2-0.
"We busted our tails," said Charm City manager Jimmy Días. "But we came up short."
The victory gives the Blazers a record of 68-51.
