Talons Spill Outlaws, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring game between the Phoenix Talons and the San Antonio Outlaws, pitcher Richard Balgera was masterful on the mound. The Phoenix right-hander spearheaded his team's 3-1 win. The winning pitcher was Balgera, now 4-4. He tossed 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Nick Rivers locked down his 1st save.
Phoenix used the timely hitting of Eric Wagner to capture the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Talons on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but he made it count.
"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of the plate," Balgera said.
The last-place Talons bumped their record to 52-69.
