The Atlantic City Gamblers opened their season in style with a blowout win over the Brooklyn Robins at The Ballpark at Bally's. The final score was 13-1. Atlantic City catcher Luo-lang Bi led the attack. He belted 2 home runs. Brian Whitford got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits in 7 innings.

The Gamblers got a big hit from shortstop Jafar Seif al Din. Facing Brooklyn pitcher Brett Graham in the bottom of the fifth, Seif al Din pounded a grand slam home run to left. His 1st home run of the season put the Gamblers ahead, 9-0.

"We hit the ball on the barrel," said Atlantic City manager Mario González.
