With third baseman Ollie Long leading the charge, the Calgary Pioneers defeated the Boise Spuds, 8-5, at The Stockyard. Long, who finished 2nd in the JL in hits with 217 in 2059, was 4-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Calgary starter Victor Evans was credited with the win after throwing 98 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 3-0. Martín Viera earned the save, his 4th, for the Pioneers.

The Spuds had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Pioneers going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old shortstop José Cervantes came to the plate. Cervantes hit a 3-run home run on a first pitch fastball from Boise hurler Niegloslaw Woywitka. It was Cervantes's 1st home run of the year.

"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Long.

The triumph makes Calgary 8-6, as the team begins another long trek toward the playoffs in 2063.
