The Sacramento Mad Popes powered past the Hawaii Tropics, 8-3, at The Basilica at Muskrat Slough. Hamdan Nuh provided some of the pop. He went 3 for 3 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Mario Reyes picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-0. He struck out 6 in 6 innings. With the loss, Hawaii is 0-2.

António Liñares had a big 2-run home run for the Mad Popes in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Sacramento leading 2-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a screwball from 15-year veteran John Avery and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mad Popes ahead, 4-0.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Liñares said.
