MacPherson Twirls Blues to Shutout Win
The Brooks Fighting Pheasants had no answer for Missouri Blues pitcher Sam MacPherson. They failed to score a single run against him, losing, 6-0. Brooks managed only 5 hits off MacPherson, who had 5 strikeouts.

The extraordinarily popular MacPherson got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.

"Blues fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances, but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."

Up to now MacPherson has compiled an ERA of 1.81 with a 4-0 mark over 5 starts. He has 31 strikeouts in 44.2 innings and has held opponents to a .181 batting average.
