Duqaq Cracks 5 Hits
|
The Orlando Oranges stopped the El Paso Borderhounds by a score of 6-3 at Eddie Guerrero Field, with the lion's share of the credit going to third baseman Ajwad Duqaq. The 26-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Duqaq said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Duqaq did just that in his 8 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Borderhounds.
"Not much that I can say," offered El Paso manager Carson Stoller. "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Ajwad Duqaq singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th, flied out in the 9th, singled in the 12th, struck out in the 14th and hit a three-run home run off Raúl Morales in the 16th.
Duqaq is hitting .324 so far this season with 11 RBIs and 5 runs scored. He has 12 hits including 3 home runs, 1 walk and .359 OBP.
