Mad Popes Lose to Surfers in Walk-Off
|
Long Beach registered a win at Vito Costantino Memorial Stadium by beating the Sacramento Mad Popes, 2-1. Pitcher Dirk Bessi was one reason why the Surfers triumphed. Long Beach reliever Tulon Korutürk was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Rafael Taboada. Despite the loss, Sacramento still owns an impressive 15-8 record.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Long Beach third baseman Leonardo Rodríguez, facing Rafael Taboada, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Surfers the 2-1 win.
"You don't always need a lot of runs to win," said Bessi. "Sometimes you need just one or two."
