Brownies Squelch Kernels Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Brook Park Brownies got a magnificent performance from pitcher Felipe Méndez, who muffled the Des Moines offense en route to a tight, 3-0 Brownies win at Brownie Field. Jesús Huerta earned the save, his 7th. Brook Park goes to 10-16.
The win was a team effort for Brook Park. Shortstop Elvan Masûkî was among the key contributors. In the bottom of the second, he put his team in front, 2-0, when he hit a 2-run single.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Des Moines skipper Mel Jenkins, "and it cost us."
