Despite a great performance by Hawaii designated hitter Eric Owens, the Valencia Stars defeated the Tropics by the score of 9-7 at ‘Iolani Palace. Owens was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. The win puts Valencia at 12-16.

Tim Bartlett had a big 2-run home run for the Stars in the top of the third inning. With Valencia leading 5-2 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from former first overall pick Utbah bin Muta and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Stars on top, 7-2.

"We got the victory," said Bartlett. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
