Wolves Topple Kernels with Late Rally
|
The Des Moines Kernels got a superb performance from pitcher Víctor Trevino, but the Madison Wolves still won the game, 5-3. Trevino came in in relief and pitched to 17 batters. The winner was Chris Stout in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Scott Everard took the loss. Felipe Zarate finished the game for Madison and earned his 11th save.
Madison used the clutch hitting of Rafael Adams to snag the win. The shortstop drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Wolves ahead, 5-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
Madison manager Will Myers commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
With the win, Madison climbs to 18-12.
