Stars Handed 8-3 Loss by Vancouver
|
The Vancouver Mounties topped the Valencia Stars, 8-3, with first baseman Sam Corkum playing a big role. Corkum was 3 for 5 with a triple and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Mounties in the win. Topan Adjeng earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Picking up the save was Rick Clarijs, his 1st.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Mounties grabbed the lead when Greg Clover rapped a two-out single. Vancouver was trailing 2-1, when Clover hit a 2-run single off Dane Beckham to put his team in front, 3-2.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Hung-k'uei Cui said.
With the win, Vancouver boosts its record to 3-0.
