Mad Popes Dealt 6-2 Loss by Hawaii
|
The timely hitting of Carlos Schumann helped the Hawaii Tropics down the Sacramento Mad Popes, 6-2. Schumann went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the Tropics. Semih Gurânî, who is a two-time All-Star, was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. With the win, Hawaii raised its record to 17-16.
Carlos Sánchez hit a 2-run home run off Jamie Barber in the bottom of the second, which put the Tropics ahead, 2-0. In addition to the homer, Sánchez had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
