Riding the 4-hit performance of the two-time All-Star Mas'ud bin Salah al Din, the Phoenix Talons stopped the Austin Shredders, 5-2, in 9 innings. The winner was Ernesto Juárez in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Motuha Kalinda took the loss. The win takes Phoenix to 3-1.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Adrian Tallent came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Austin pitcher Motuha Kalinda, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Phoenix on top, 3-2.
After the game, Phoenix manager Thad Meyer applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
