Sacramento 22-13 After Beating Mounties
|
The Sacramento Mad Popes got a marvelous performance from pitcher Steve Warren. The left-hander kept the Vancouver offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 4-1 Sacramento victory at The Basilica at Muskrat Slough. The winning pitcher was Warren, now 5-0. He tossed 5.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 6. Sergio Rosales recorded the save for Sacramento, his 7th of the season.
Making an impact for Sacramento was center fielder Amphibian Johnson. The Toad drilled a run-scoring triple off Stephen Clulow, Jr. in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, Johnson was 1 for 2 with a triple and 2 walks.
"I found a nice groove out there," said Warren.
With the win, Sacramento raised its record to 22-13.
