Robins Fall Short, 3-2, at Charm City
|
The Charm City Jimmies did just enough to sneak past the Cobble Hill Robins, 3-2, at OLD BAY Park at Camden Yards. Charm City pitcher Héctor Silva, in particular, had a standout performance. Silva, now 4-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Ramiro Fríaz picked up the save for Charm City, his 1st of the year.
Carlos Rodríguez had a big solo home run for the Jimmies in the bottom of the second inning. With Charm City leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 21-year old left-handed pitcher José Betancourt and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Jimmies on top, 3-1.
"Héctor's stuff looked really, really crisp," said Craig Bass, the Jimmies manager.
The second-place Jimmies lifted their record to 22-14.
