Bishr Hits Two Dingers, Aztecs Win, 5-4
|
The Phoenix Talons and Mexico City Aztecs provided some drama for the home crowd.
Mexico City beat Phoenix at Denny's Paul D. Lunn Memorial Stadium Presented By Subaru, eking out a 5-4 win. The triumph was primarily due to first baseman Wafid Bishr. He was 3 for 3 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Sergio Tormes, who led the JL in saves with 39 last year, nailed down the save.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases empty and no one out in the top of the seventh inning. That's when third baseman Zhi-fu Huang, who is tied for 5th in the JL in bases on balls with 20, hit a triple. The Aztecs went on to win.
"We took home the win," said Bishr. "What's not to like?"
The Aztecs bumped their record to 18-18 with this latest triumph.
