Hustlers Rally to Nose Past Boise
|
The Las Vegas Hustlers dealt the Boise Spuds a 5-4 loss in 11 innings at Palace Station Ballpark & Casino. Don Dulaney was the star on offense. He went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. Las Vegas pitcher Ricardo Martínez got the win, upping his record to 4-0. Mario Santos got the loss. Las Vegas now owns a record of 23-15.
Batting in the bottom of the 11th, 24-year old shortstop Jorge Madrid had a real shot to win the game. Boise pitcher Yoriyuki Ine was determined not to let it happen. But with two outs, Madrid hit a run-scoring single. The Hustlers had a walk-off triumph.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Henry Rectenberg, the Las Vegas skipper. "This one tested us."
