Sluggers Stay Hot, Beat Wolves, 7-1
|
Louisville and Madison took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
Riding the 2-hit performance of the 24-year old catcher Artie Beaman, the Louisville Sluggers defeated the Madison Wolves, 7-1. Vinz Clortho came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 4 innings. His record now stands at 3-3.
The game turned with one out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Beaman hit a run-scoring double off Jugnu Sampath. It propelled the Sluggers into the lead, 1-0.
"The vibe's good," said Louisville manager Bernardo Herrera. "We've got to keep it going."
Louisville has run its win streak to 5 consecutive.
