Jacksonville turned a good effort from starter Mathis Gérard into a win over the Mexico City Aztecs at Quetzalcoatl Dome. The final score was 4-2. Gérard yielded 2 runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 3-4. Victor Braden recorded the save for Jacksonville, his 7th of the season.

Tied up with the Aztecs in the top of the fifth inning, the Zombies got a boost from third baseman Isoruko Takimoto. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Takimoto saw a full count fastball from Johnny Nicholson and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Jacksonville on top, 2-1.

"Mathis was hitting his spots and everything had life," said Jacksonville manager Shoiab Kardar.

The Zombies now have a record of 23-22 with the win over Mexico City.
