The 11-3 Boise win over Phoenix was due in large part to Roberto Martínez. The Spuds catcher was 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Juan Guzmán claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. His record stands at 1-0. The loss drops Phoenix to 1-4.

The Spuds got a big boost from designated hitter Perry Taylor who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Talons hurler Arthur Dunn. It was his 1st walk of the season and put Boise on top, 1-0.

"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Martínez told the Boise Herald.
