The Mexico City Aztecs knocked off the Montreal Blazers, 5-3, in Johnson League action at Quetzalcoatl Dome. Mexico City pitcher and Merritt Island, Florida, native Tony Kaufman had an outstanding performance. Kaufman picked up the win for Mexico City, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1. Jonathan Sobers earned the save, his 2nd, for the Aztecs.

Dobrica Sekulic took Montreal hurler Peter Ramsey deep in the bottom of the second. His 2-run home run put the Aztecs on top, 2-0. In all, Sekulic had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Kaufman told the Mexico City Bulletin.
