Sluggers Need Extra Frames to Get Past Surfers
|
Louisville designated hitter John Coxtolstoy made his presence felt in the 5-2 Sluggers triumph over the Long Beach Surfers. Coxtolstoy was 2-6 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The 7th-place Surfers dropped to 21-28.
Coxtolstoy had a game-changing home run in the top of the 12th. On a 0-1 cutter from Wilson Pérez, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Sluggers a 5-2 lead. It was the 14th home run of the year for Coxtolstoy.
Louisville manager Bernardo Herrera praised his team's "energy."
