Mad Popes Spill Bluebirds, 4-3
|
The Sacramento Mad Popes picked up a win at Les Paul Field, knocking off the Nashville Bluebirds, 4-3. Starting pitcher Jamie Barber played a key role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Barber, now 5-2. He tossed 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. Earning his 1st save of the year was Sergio Rosales.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the top of the seventh inning. That's when catcher John Kinsella, who is a six-time Yogi Zimmer Diamond Glove Award winner, hit a double. The Mad Popes went on to win.
Sacramento manager Fernando Pacheco commended his team for "bagging a nice win."
The Mad Popes, at 32-21, lead by one game in their division.
