The Phoenix Talons trumped the Boise Spuds, 13-2, at F. Nephi Grigg Memorial Stadium. Phoenix shortstop Rich Dares was terrific. He was 2 for 4 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Jodie Hanna earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record is now 1-0. With the loss, Boise is 2-4.

Phoenix used the hitting of G'Tuda Choppa to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Talons on top, 2-1. For the game, Choppa had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We didn't help ourselves, it's as simple as that," said losing manager Mario Contreras.
