Des Moines Loses, 11-7, Despite Koo Performance
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Vancouver Mounties and Des Moines Kernels.
The Vancouver Mounties had to overcome a big game from Des Moines designated hitter Wan-ling Koo to leave Kid Krauss's Kum & Go Kourtyard with a victory. And they did, winning, 11-7. Koo went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Sam Fisher, now 4-0, was credited with the win in 2.2 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit, while striking out 3 and walking 1.
Vancouver needed the clutch hitting of Greg Clover to seal the deal. The left fielder swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Mounties on top, 6-3. For the game, Clover had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Clover.
The Vancouver win streak is now 4 games.
