Kernels Drop Wolves, 7-2

The Des Moines Kernels picked up a win at Kid Krauss's Kum & Go Kourtyard, knocking off the Madison Wolves, 7-2. Starting pitcher Alonso Amaya was a big reason why. In 8 innings, Amaya surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. Madison now is 1-5.
Masakado Matsunaga had a big 2-run home run for the Kernels in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Des Moines leading 3-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a circle change from Wilson Herrera, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2054 draft, and swatted a home run to center. It was his 4th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Kernels ahead, 5-1.
"For the most part, I didn't think they knew what was coming," said Amaya.
