Yellow Springs pitcher Sakutaro Kawano had a large part in his team beating the Long Beach Surfers, 5-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The winning pitcher was Kawano, now 1-5. He tossed 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 4. Yellow Springs's record now stands at 25-31, placing them 6th in the Frick League Heartland Division.

Emílio Navarro had a big 2-run home run for the Nine in the bottom of the third inning. With Yellow Springs leading 2-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a sinker from 36-year old right-handed pitcher You-de Szema and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Nine on top, 4-0.

"It was a solid team effort," Navarro said. "That's usually what it takes to win."
