Stars Lose to Sluggers, 6-3
|
Jon Brown, who finished 4th in the FL in ERA with 3.24 in 2053, had a strong outing for the Louisville Sluggers against the Valencia Stars at Kentucky Truck Plant Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 6-3 win. Brown, the winner, moves to 4-4. He threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 1 and giving up 3 walks. The 6th-place Sluggers now have a win-loss record of 27-29.
Tied up with the Stars in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Sluggers got a boost from first baseman José Barrera. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Barrera saw a 1-1 sinker from Qing-lai Ou-yang and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Louisville on top, 3-2.
"Jon made some big pitches when he needed to," said Sluggers manager Bernardo Herrera.
