Mad Popes Come Up Short at Des Moines, 6-5
|
The Des Moines Kernels took Sacramento pitcher Don Jordan's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Kid Krauss's Kum & Go Kourtyard. The final score had Des Moines getting past the Mad Popes, 6-5. Jordan went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 5. Alonso González picked up his 1st save of the season. Des Moines now owns a record of 28-28.
The Kernels got a big at-bat from second baseman Jesús Rosito. For the game, Rosito was 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 5th double of the season gave Des Moines a 5-4 lead.
"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Rosito told the Des Moines Daily.
