Gamblers Absorb 3-1 Home Loss
Starting pitcher Victor Evans gave the Calgary Pioneers a rock-solid effort. The Brookline, Massachusetts native helped his team defeat the Atlantic City Gamblers, 3-1, at The Ballpark at Bally's. The winning pitcher was Evans, now 4-3. He tossed 5.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3. At 27-31, Calgary is in 5th place in the Johnson League Frontier Division.

Calgary used a well-timed hit by Rusty Harmon to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Pioneers ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"Victor pitched his heart out," said Calgary manager Bilbo Baggins.
