The Long Beach Surfers faced a tough opponent in Madison pitcher Jesús Gil, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Shotz Stadium by a final score of 5-4. Gil went 6.2 innings and allowed 3 runs. Long Beach reliever José Owens picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Wesley Turner absorbed the loss. Wilson Pérez finished the game for Long Beach and earned his 1st save.

Jesús Reyes came through with a big-time hit for Long Beach. The right fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Madison manager Will Myers. "The effort was great."

The Surfers move to 25-32 with the win, while the Wolves drop to 19-38.
