Spuds Drop Outlaws, 2-1
|
Starting pitcher Doug Eckhoff gave the Boise Spuds a rock-solid effort. The Hesperia, California native helped his team defeat the San Antonio Outlaws, 2-1, at F. Nephi Grigg Memorial Stadium. Eckhoff yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 1. His record improves to 1-3. Mario Santos recorded the save, making him 24 for 29.
Tadanobu Otani drove in one run for Boise. The 24-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off George White. It was his 61st RBI of the season.
"It was a good effort all around," said Otani.
San Antonio has now lost 4 consecutive games.
