Sacramento pitcher Jamie Barber had a large part in his team beating the Valencia Stars, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. With the win, the Mad Popes have a record of 66-57.
In the bottom of the 6th, second baseman Jorge Reyes gave Sacramento the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Mad Popes had been trailing 3-2, but the two-out single off Valencia pitcher Bill Williams changed that -- and Sacramento went on to win.
After the game, Sacramento manager Fernando Pacheco applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
