Jason Newton was a major factor in the 7-4 New Orleans win over Montreal. The Crawdads second baseman went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Carlos Miranda earned the save, his 35th in 42 tries. With the victory, the Crawdads upped their record to 62-62.

The game turned with two out in the top of the fourth. That's when Newton hit a 3-run home run off Samuel Nebraska. It propelled the Crawdads into the lead, 5-2.

In postgame comments to the New Orleans Observer, Newton said, "Our goal is to stack wins."
