Cyclones Lose to Kernels in Walk-Off
The Des Moines Kernels defeated the Omaha Cyclones, 7-4, at Kid Krauss's Kum & Go Kourtyard. Des Moines was led by 24-year old catcher Masakado Matsunaga, who was 2 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. Alonso González, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. The Des Moines win streak is now 4 games.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Matsunaga hit a changeup from Dave Ferrell for a 3-run home run. The Kernels, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Matsunaga said in his postgame press conference.
