Mad Popes Lose to Bears, 8-6
The San Fernando Bears spoiled a good performance by Sacramento left fielder Pedro Álvarez, bumping off Sacramento, 8-6, at Chico's Bail Bonds Field. Álvarez went 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. With the win, the Bears hiked their record to 66-59.

Rafael Marquis had a big 2-run double for the Bears in the bottom of the seventh inning. With San Fernando leading 6-3 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Dave Cain and swatted a double to center. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bears ahead, 8-3.

"I feel like a little kid every time I put the uniform on," said Marquis.
