|
Naif Abdul-Latif led Sacramento to a win over Des Moines. The final score was 5-2. The left fielder had a huge performance. He whacked 2 extra-base hits, including 1 home run and 1 double. Michihiro Tanaka got the win, improving to 5-3. He held the Kernels to 2 runs on 5 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Jeff Locke earned the save for Sacramento, his 7th.
With Sacramento leading 3-1 in the top of the fourth, Abdul-Latif hit a sinker from Pedro Soto for a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Mad Popes ahead, 5-1.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Abdul-Latif told reporters after the game.
