Tropics Need Extra Innings to Top Mounties, 3-2
The Hawaii Tropics racked up a win at ‘Iolani Palace, bumping off the Vancouver Mounties, 3-2, in 14 innings. Kinzo Iwamoto, who started for Hawaii, pitched effectively for his team. Hawaii reliever Utbah bin Muta was the winner. His record is now 5-1. Serge Elovsky took the loss. The Tropics, at 73-53, lead by one game in their division.

The Tropics were down to their final out when shortstop Carlos Schumann turned a 2-1 splitter from Sam Fisher into a 2-run single. The walk-off single made the ‘Iolani Palace crowd go wild.

"Our team showed some spunk," said Schumann.
