Skidding Shredders Lose 9th Straight
|
The Calgary Pioneers defeated the Austin Shredders, 6-3, at Austin Baseball Grounds. Calgary left fielder Justin Vaive had a superb performance. He was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Edward Harrison notched his 5th save in 12 chances. The losses continue to mount for Austin, which has now dropped 9 in a row.
Vaive had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 0-1 changeup from Glenn Hargrove, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Pioneers a 6-3 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Vaive.
Austin manager Víctor Asario, after yet another defeat, said: "We need to recalibrate."
