Dave Matthes put on a hitting clinic in helping Chicago beat Louisville, 11-6. Matthes had 1 single and 2 doubles for the Black Sox. He also scored 1 run and knocked in 4. Chicago occupies second place in the Frick League Heartland Division at 77-57.

Chicago used the timely hitting of Lysander Ruvelas to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Black Sox on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Ruvelas told the Chicago Today.
