‘Iolani Palace was the site for Frick League action featuring the Hawaii Tropics and Long Beach Surfers.

The Long Beach Surfers soundly defeated the Hawaii Tropics, 13-3, at ‘Iolani Palace, with catcher Ricardo Castillo a major reason why. He was 3 for 5 with 3 doubles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 for Long Beach. Leon Ludeman, the winning pitcher, is now 5-7. He went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 10 hits, while fanning 3 and walking 1.

Long Beach got a big at-bat from La Paz, Mexico native Javier Cardona, who in the top of the third hit a bases-clearing double. It was his 16th double of the season and put the Surfers ahead, 10-1.

Said Hawaii manager Amato Cruz after the blowout loss: "Son of a gun."

The win makes Long Beach 49-85.
