Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Austin Shredders got the win.

The Austin Shredders had to overcome a fine effort from Las Vegas pitcher Owen Geddes to win, 4-2, at Palace Station Ballpark & Casino. Geddes went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Lloyd Mallandain earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record is now 1-0. Picking up the save was Edward Joseph Pfeffer. He's now 23 for 28 in save chances.

Austin needed the clutch hitting of Enrique Mendoza to seal the deal. The catcher swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Shredders on top, 4-2. For the game, Mendoza had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Shredders manager David Pinto.

The loss makes Las Vegas 87-48.
