The Sacramento Mad Popes topped the Long Beach Surfers by a score of 9-5. Leading the way was left fielder Pedro Álvarez. Álvarez slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Mad Popes. The win went to Sergio Rosales in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Millard MacIndeor took the loss. Sacramento, at 71-64, holds down 4th place in the Frick League Pacific Division.

Right Fielder Steven Mortenson made an impact for Sacramento, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Millard MacIndeor in the top of the fourth. For the contest, Mortenson was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Mortenson told the Sacramento Bulletin.
