Des Moines Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
With third baseman Félix Parreno leading the charge, the Des Moines Kernels defeated the Yellow Springs Nine, 7-6, at Kid Krauss's Kum & Go Kourtyard. Parreno, who finished 5th in the FL in extra base hits with 70 in 2060, was 2-3 with 2 singles and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The Nine, now 61-75, have lost 4 in a row.
The clutch at-bat in the bottom of the ninth belonged to Parreno. Facing Jesús Ríos with the bases loaded, the Des Moines third baseman had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. Game over, walk-off style!
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Des Moines manager Mel Jenkins.
