The Charlotte Flyers welcomed the Cobble Hill Robins to an afternoon game at Family Dollar Field.

The Charlotte Flyers besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Cobble Hill catcher Eduardo Medine by beating the Robins, 8-5, at Family Dollar Field. Medine was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Josh Dougherty got credit for the save for Charlotte. It was his 34th of the year.

Tony Villa had a big 3-run home run for the Flyers in the bottom of the first inning. With Charlotte trailing 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a splitter from top prospect Ramón Buettner and punished it. The result was his 20th home run of the season, which put the Flyers on top, 4-2.

"We took home the win," said Villa. "What's not to like?"

Charlotte is now 78-59, while Cobble Hill is 60-77.
