Pioneers Suffer 7-3 Home Defeat
The Phoenix Talons topped the Calgary Pioneers, 7-3, with youngster G'Tuda Choppa playing a key role. Choppa hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Talons in the win. With the win over Calgary, the Talons improved to 84-53.

Phoenix used a well-timed hit by Sergio León to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Talons ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"Winning is the only thing that really matters," León told the Phoenix News. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
