Li, Mounties Too Much for Surfers
|
The Vancouver Mounties licked the Long Beach Surfers, 7-4. Zhi Li deserved a big chunk of the credit. The right fielder went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Mounties. The winning pitcher was 33-year old right-handed pitcher Micah Harrington. He tossed 101 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits. The first-place Mounties have won 4 in a row.
Vancouver used the timely hitting of Héctor Ruíz to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Mounties on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Every win gets us closer to our ultimate goal," said Ruíz.
