Wolves Foil Cyclones, 3-1
|
The Madison Wolves got a magnificent performance from pitcher Chris Stout, who muffled the Omaha offense en route to a tight, 3-1 Wolves win at Shotz Stadium. Stout picked up the win for Madison, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 3-2. Clint Thomas closed the door for Madison, picking up his 22nd save of the year.
Ziad Abdul-Samad had a big run-scoring double for the Wolves in the bottom of the third inning. With Madison leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a cutter from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Sam Landry and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 32nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Wolves ahead, 2-0.
Madison manager Will Myers called it "a darn good win."
Madison, at 62-76, holds down 5th place in the Frick League Heartland Division.
