Losing Streak Continues for Stars with 8-3 Loss to Krill
|
Krill third baseman Manuel Martínez left his imprint on his team's 8-3 win over the Valencia Stars. Martínez was 3-4 with 3 doubles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for Bikini in the contest. Dana Munce earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 8-2. Enrique Villarreal sewed up the save, his 3rd.
Had Júlio López not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, López hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Krill.
"We need to step it up, period," said an agitated Valencia manager Roberto Solís.
Valencia's current losing streak has reached 12 games.
