Bob English, who leads the JL in wins with 15, was locked in. The left-hander led the Calgary Pioneers to a 7-3 win against the Austin Shredders at The Stockyard. Ray Matthews, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-4. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. Mitch Bond closed it out for Calgary, earning his 3rd save.

The Pioneers got a big at-bat from first baseman Michael Little. For the game, Little was 1 for 4 with a home run. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 29th home run of the season gave Calgary a 3-2 lead.

"It's nice to get the results when you're feeling good and throwing the ball well," said English after the game.

Calgary improves to 79-61 with the win. They lead their division by 5 games.
